Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is Japanese for “universal life energy” also described as natural energy healing based on the use of universal life force. This is a tradition was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication.
Many variations of Reiki exist, but all allow the energy to be channelled through the practitioner’s hands, either by placing their hands gently on the client or hovering just above in a series of non-intrusive positions. Each person experiences Reiki differently depending on the individuals needs at that time.
When this energy flows uninterrupted there is balance and harmony within us and around us. Reiki can be used to help with the physical body, emotional and spiritual aspects of the body, which anyone can enjoy in the normal course of their life and can be used alongside other modern day medicines or holistic/complimentary treatments, the treatment often provides emotional support during recovery and many experience a sense of wellbeing.
Reiki Practitioners say that problems are often caused by blockages caused by negative thinking, lifestyle choices, ongoing treatments, stresses and attitude of not loving oneself. Reiki recognises that it’s not our problems that need healing but our whole self, as every cell in our body contains universal energy and this energy can become disordered or out of balance, Reiki works by clearing away the blockages and rebalances this energy and creates order in the energy of the cells.
Reiki energy is safe and a whole body treatment bringing deep relaxation, soothing emotions and reduces negative feelings. Reiki can help unlock natural creativity allowing you to reach your full potential, it can bring clarity, focus and a sense of purpose back into life. It helps you find true peace of mind and brings positivity to help cope with life’s challenges. Many say one session is equivalent of 3 to 4 hours’ deep sleep.
